Vaasi is a digital reading app for children (K–8), managed by a parent or guardian. We take children's privacy seriously and collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Who controls the account

A parent or guardian creates and controls the account. Children use a read-only mode set up by the parent. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children beyond what a parent enters to set up a reader profile.

Information we collect

• Parent account: email address (via Google sign-in or email/password) and, optionally, a display name.
• Reader (child) profiles: a first name or nickname, an avatar, a 4-letter sign-in PIN, and an optional reading level — all entered by the parent.
• Reading activity: which books are on a child's shelf and reading progress, used to show the shelf and resume reading.
• Device information: a random device identifier stored on the device to enable offline reading. We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or microphone/camera data.

How we use information

• To provide the service: sign-in, per-child shelves, reading progress, and offline downloads.
• To process subscriptions and payments (handled by our payment processor).
• To communicate account and support messages (e.g., password reset).

What we do NOT do

• We do not show advertising in the app.
• We do not sell or rent personal information.
• We do not use third-party ad networks or behavioral tracking of children.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run Vaasi, who process data only on our behalf:

• Google Firebase — authentication and database (account and profile data).
• Vercel — app hosting.
• Stripe — payment processing (when subscriptions are enabled). We do not store card numbers.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Vaasi is intended to be used under parental supervision. The parent provides any information about a child and can review, edit, or delete a child's profile at any time from the account settings. We collect only the limited data needed to operate the reading experience and never use children's data for advertising or profiling.

Data retention & deletion

We keep account data while the account is active. A parent can delete a reader profile in the app, or request full account deletion by emailing us (below). We will delete the associated data within a reasonable period.

Your choices

• View or edit reader profiles in My Account.
• Request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us.

Subscription terms

$5 per month for each reader, billed monthly until you cancel. Each reader on your account is a separate subscription. Prices are in US dollars.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from My Readers → Manage subscription. Your reader keeps their place until the end of the month you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again after that.

Refunds. We do not refund part of a month. Because a reader keeps their place to the end of the period you have paid for, cancelling early costs you nothing beyond the month already in progress.

What a subscription covers. A subscription is one reader’s place: the whole library, the epics, read-aloud and offline downloads. Each reader has their own place, so a second reader needs their own subscription. Books already on a reader’s shelf stay there either way.

Price changes. We will email you before any change to the price of an existing subscription.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Vaasi does not see or store your card details.
